LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Friday sought comments from the Kahna station house officer in a petition seeking registration of case against a man and his accomplices for allegedly stealing the petitioner’s donkeys.

The judge gave the SHO till March 17 to file his reply.

Petitioner Ameer Ali said that he owned two donkeys and earned a livelihood through them. He said a few days ago, he had tied both the donkeys close to the wall of the Central Park Society and went for lunch nearby.

He said when he returned, his donkeys were missing. He said he looked around to see if the donkeys had broken the ropes they were tired with and had walked away. He said he did not find them anywhere.

He said he was certain that they had been taken since an animal could not wander away out of sight in such a short time.

After an hour, he said, one of his friends told him that he saw Muhammad Karamat and his men put the donkeys in a van.

He said he went to see Karamat and asked him about his donkeys. He said Karamat denied having seen them. He said he then approached police station concerned seeking to file a complaint, but the SHO ignored him.

He requested the court to order the SHO to register a theft case against Karamat and his men and recover the donkeys.

He said he was a poor man and the donkeys were his only source of income.
