Disqualification ruling: Axed PM Gilani still ready to pursue case
Calls for strict action against the ministers and bureaucrats responsible for the plight of Thar.
KARACHI:
PPP leader and former prime minster Yousaf Raza Gilani said he still wants to pursue his disqualification case. “Soon after the judgment against me, I had filed the review petition, but the then chief justice did not give me the date for hearing,” he said adding that he would again follow the case. Gilani expressed reservations against the judgment. “I did not want to indulge in confrontation between two pillars of the state. The decision was not only against me, it was against the then parliament and speaker who had shown confidence in me,” he remarked. He called for strict action against the ministers and bureaucrats responsible for the plight of Thar. “It is PPP government’s responsibility to deal with the drought in Thar. The provincial government should acknowledge if it has failed to deliver,” he said.
