Official tour: Sartaj, UK ministers discuss security
Home Secretary lauded Pakistan’s new internal security policy.
ISLAMABAD:
The Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Thursday held separate meetings with key British cabinet members and discussed bilateral relations and regional situation. Aziz, who is on an official visit to United Kingdom for review of the Enhanced Strategic Dialogue (ESD) between Pakistan and the UK met with International Development Secretary Justine Greening, Home Secretary Theresa May and Defence Secretary Philip Hammond, said a Foreign Office statement. May lauded Pakistan’s new internal security policy and offered UK’s support for its timely and effective implementation. She also said that Pakistan’s stability was important for the entire South Asian Region and UK was ready for its meaningful cooperation to strengthen regional security. Defence Secretary Hammond discussed defence cooperation between the two countries and post-NATO withdrawal scenario in Afghanistan and its implications for the region.
