Legislation: AJK assembly approves four ordinances
Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (AJKLA) Wednesday approved four ordinances.
The first law was passed for the establishment of Power Development Organisation (PDO) to harness the hydel power potential in the region.
Another law was approved for establishing Management Sciences and Information Technology University in Kotli.
The assembly also passed two laws on Prime Minister’s Inspection and Implementation Commission, and the Azad Kashmir Judicial Officers and Staff Welfare Foundation. The assembly further approved an increase in the minimum wage of unskilled workers from Rs7,000 to Rs9,000.
The assembly through a resolution condemned the expulsion of Kashmiri students from Indian universities for celebrating Pakistani cricket team’s victory against India during the Asia Cup match in Bangladesh last week.
The assembly termed the action violation of basic human rights and urged the international community to take notice of the act.
The assembly also hailed Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson statement offering the students free education in Pakistani universities.
