The party's views were shared by its Sindh chapter secretary-general, Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro. He was talking to the media at Madressa Hamadia Manzil Gah in Sukkur on Tuesday afternoon, when he came down hard on the Sindh government and its functionaries for what he called was gross negligence towards the drought in Thar. Had the government taken timely action and had started relief activities, the death toll would have been minimised considerably, he said.
Soomro announced the launch of a movement to safeguard religious seminaries across the province. During this month-long movement, protest rallies will be held in all district headquarters. He blamed the 'Western forces' for launching a negative propaganda against religious seminaries in the country. The national security policy is also the part of a conspiracy against religious seminaries, which is not only condemnable, but intolerable, he added.
