Corruption Alleged: NAB cases against Sharifs dismissed

Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan heard the appeals.

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court allowed appeals by the Sharif family challenging references made by NAB against Hudeibia Papers Mills and others.

Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan heard the appeals.

Advocate Ashtar Ausaf represented the Sharif family and argued that NAB had made the references on Musharraf’s direction to politically victimise the Sharif family.

In its references, NAB accused the Sharifs of committing Rs 642.7 million worth of corruption in the Hudeibia Paper Mills. The second reference relates to assets in Raiwind and alleges that the Sharifs acquired vast tracts of land with resources that appeared to be grossly disproportionate to their known sources of income.

In the third case, Nawaz Sharif, Abbas Sharif and Kamal Qureshi are accused of committing corruption worth Rs1,063 million.
