Seven killed, bodies of two schoolteachers found

Deceased sisters were unmarried and lived on their own, say police .

Seven people were killed in separate acts of targeted killings, while the bodies of two retired school teachers were found in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Tuesday.

Syed Naeem Hussain Jafri was shot dead when three armed motorcyclists opened fire at him while he was sitting outside his furniture shop in Liaquatabad. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy. SHO Anzar Alam said that it appeared that the man was targeted due to his sect.

The bodies of two retired schoolteachers, sisters, were found inside their home in Madina Colony in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The deceased women were identified as Siraj Khatoon, 70, and Saleha, 74. The police found the bodies after residents informed them. The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital, Karachi. SHO Aurangzeb Khattak said that the bodies of the unmarried sisters, who lived on their own, were at least three days old. The official said that it appears that both the women died of natural causes.

Separately, Mohammad Naveed was killed when armed motorcyclists opened fire at him near Jumman Shah Shrine. Soldier Bazaar SHO Sohail Khan said that deceased lived in the same area and used to work as a driver in the education department.


Omar Ilyas, 55, was shot dead and his daughter-in-law, Naila, 21, was injured inside their home in Muslim Colony. Quaidabad police SHO Ahmed Asim said that two women in veils and a man entered their home and opened indiscriminate fire. The official said that the culprits also shot and killed another person, Nisar, while they were fleeing.

An alleged drug peddler, Arshad, was killed and another, Abdul Raheem, was wounded in a firing incident in Haroonabad in SITE. Police officials said that deceased was also involved in criminal cases and had recently been released on bail.

Another man belonging to the Shia community was shot dead on Rashid Minhas Road. Federal B Industrial Area police said that the deceased, Fazal Abbas, 35, a resident of Malir, was riding his motorcycle when two armed motorcyclists killed him. Another man was shot dead in North Karachi.
