Kidnap for ransom: Man, wife sentenced to life imprisonment

Saima was released after her family paid a Rs200,000 ransom.

FAISALABAD: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Ishtiaq Ahmad on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment on two counts to a couple convicted of kidnapping a girl for ransom in Tandlianwala.

According to the prosecution, Muhammad Aslam, a resident of Faisal Town, his wife Salma Bibi and his son-in-law Muhammad Saeed had abducted *Saima on January 1, 2014 from outside her house.

*Saima was released after her family paid a Rs200,000 ransom.

Ashraf and Salma Bibi were sentenced to life imprisonment on two counts. The anti-terror court fined them Rs50,000 each and ordered that their property be confiscated.

Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Ishtiaq Ahmad also issued a show cause notice to the Tandlianwala station house officer (SHO) for delay in registering the case against the men.

Muhammad Saeed, the third accused, was declared a proclaimed offender by the anti-terrorism court.
