PABBI: A young man held for allegedly smuggling drugs was acquitted by the district and sessions court in Nowshera on Monday. The reason behind the acquittal was said lack of evidence against the accused. Jamil Khan was arrested by the Risalpur police near the Rashakai Interchange. The police recovered 15 kilogrammes of hashish from his possession and registered a case against him. Khan has been imprisoned over this case since some time. On Monday, his counsel Safiullah Muhammadzai told Nowshera District and Sessions Judge Abdur Rauf that his client was innocent and presented evidence to prove his claim. The police failed to prove the alleged crime. The judge later acquitted Khan because of the prosecution’s failure to prove his guilt.
