KARACHI/LAHORE: A day after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) expressed its willingness to be a part of the new talks committee, on Monday it conveyed to the government the name of Gulzar Khan as their nominee, Express News reported.

PTI officials told The Express Tribune that the name of Gulzar Khan, a member of the National Assembly (MNA) from Peshawar, has been conveyed to the government.

The government on March 6 decided to form a new committee that will hold direct talks with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a bid to accelerate the peace process.

Gulzar Khan is an active member of PTI and currently resides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

Imran Khan press conference

Earlier on Monday, PTI chief Imran Khan told a press conference in Lahore that a pro-American lobby was allegedly pulling the country into devastation.

He demanded the government to separate the Taliban groups who are opposing the peace talks from those who are in favour of negotiations.

Responding to a question regarding the set-up of a Taliban office in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Imran said that it would be decided with consultation of the federal government.

Gulzar Khan is a good choice but end result would be an operation but these efforts might help in bringing some groups to an agreement
