SC accepts 8 year old petition seeking abolition of West Pakistan Government Servant Rules 1963.
ISLAMABAD:
The Supreme Court has accepted an eight year old petition for regular hearing, seeking the abolition of West Pakistan Government Servant (Restriction of Marriage with Foreign National) Rules 1963. In the last week, a three judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani had rejected its registrar’s objections over the petition, filed by a lawyer Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhutta for the abolition of said rules. The bench has also decided to take up this matter along with the suo motu case of Peshawar church bomb blast. It is to be noted that this law bars the civil servants to marry foreign nationals.
