India’s Supreme Court has delayed the hearing Indian Premier League corruption till March 25, according to ESPNcricinfo. It is on this date that it will hear arguments over the findings of the Mudgal Commission report submitted to the court on February 10.
The Supreme Court had set up a panel on October 2013 to conduct an independent inquiry into the allegations of corruption against Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of N Srinivasan, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, the Super Kings, and Rajasthan Royals. The allegations surrounded betting and spot-fixing in the IPL matches and the involvement of players.
The BCCI requested the court keep the contents of the report submitted classified to a two-judge bench of AK Patnaik and JS Khehar, in a sealed envelope.
The report stated: “The committee has come across many allegations of sporting fraud and has forwarded the allegations in a sealed envelope due to the sensitive nature of the information being provided.
