LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought a reply from Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Najam Sethi and others in two weeks on a writ petition filed by former National Selection Committee chairman Muhammad Ilyas.

Ilyas has challenged his termination saying it was unlawful. He says that he was appointed chief selector during the tenure of former PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf. However, he said, after Ashraf’s removal through a judgment of the Islamabad High Court, his (petitioner’s) contract was not extended.

He has claimed that the new PCB interim management, headed by Sethi, has a grudge against him.

The petitioner says he was reappointed to the post after Ashraf was reinstatement after the IHC’s judgment, but after Ashraf’s termination and Sethi’s selection, he was again terminated.

He said he was not heard before he was removed.
