Saved by the boycott?: Treason hearing adjourned till today
Special court judges could not reach court in wake of boycott in protest against Monday’s gun-and-suicide attack.
ISLAMABAD:
Musharraf’s legal team moved another application in the special court on Tuesday, requesting adjournment of proceedings until secure and proper arrangements are made. The three-judge bench will resume hearing of the treason case today (Wednesday).
The special court judges could not reach the court premises on Tuesday in the wake of a boycott called by lawyers representing the district bar and Islamabad High Court in protest against Monday’s gun-and-suicide attack.
Pre-hearing arrangements were made through the registrar of the special court and an application was submitted, which stated that the suicide blasts in Islamabad’s F-8 Kutchehry could occur at the special court premises.
Therefore, it is risky for the respective legal teams, the judges and especially Pervez Musharraf to attend the proceedings under the circumstances.
