Jamrud assault: Gunmen ambush NATO trucks, kill two drivers
Gunmen ambushed vehicles carrying NATO supplies for Afghanistan on Tuesday, killing two drivers and injuring a cleaner, officials said.
The vehicles came under fire in the Jamrud area of Khyber Agency as they were on their way to Afghanistan.
“A convoy of containers supplying goods to foreign troops in Afghanistan was on its way to Torkham from Peshawar when militants on motorcycles opened fire at the two vehicles in Sur Kamar,”said an official of the political administration Ali Sher while talking to The Express Tribune.
As a result of the attack, one driver was killed on the spot while another driver, along with a cleaner, in the second vehicle, were severely injured, he said.
“After the incident Khasadar officials rushed to the spot and shifted the dead and the injured to Jamrud Civil Hospital, where the other driver also succumbed to his injuries,” he said.
He said though the attackers managed to escape, some 15 suspects were arrested in a search operation of the surrounding areas.
