Over two dozen suspects were apprehended during the ongoing targeted raids and operations in the city on Monday.
Two alleged members of the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) were apprehended during a targeted raid in Korangi. The suspects were identified as Mushtaq Shah aka Sherazi and Mehboob Alam aka Madni. Anti-sectarian cell of the Crime Investigation Department in-charge Fayyaz Khan said the accused men confessed to having killed several men in the city and they belong to the Naeem Bukhari and Dilawar aka Dildar groups of the LeJ.
At least 15 suspects were apprehended by the Rangers in targeted raids in Dhobi Ghat, Mujahid Colony, Lasi Goth, Musarat Colony, Natha Khan Goth, Jumma Goth and Kati Pahari.
The Rangers also claimed to have apprehended five alleged members of an international narcotics cartel in Malir. The Rangers spokesperson claimed that heroin - hidden in onion carts - worth millions of dollars in the international drug market was also recovered. The spokesperson added that the recovered narcotics were about to be shipped abroad. At least three suspects were also apprehended by the police from Chanasor Goth.
