Five containers supplying equipment to foreign forces in Afghanistan entered the neighbouring country via Torkham Border on Saturday as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has wrapped up its blockade of Nato supply routes.
PTI activists ended their sit-in after the Peshawar High Court on February 25 termed the stoppage and checking of Afghanistan-bound cargo as illegal after a petition was filed by a trader. The Nato supply blockade was initiated in November last year by PTI workers as a sign of protest against drone attacks. Ali Raza Khan, an official of the political administration at Torkham, said for the first time after three months, five Nato containers left for Afghanistan after customs cleared them. He said Khyber Agency tribesmen were happy about the resumption of Nato supplies as most of them were involved in the transport business.
