Loopholes Witnesses speak up, but not to the police
Residents of the area accused the woman of conspiring with the Rangers.
KARACHI:
The scuffle between Zeeshan and Shafia took place in a crowded area and a large number of people witnessed the fight as well as the Rangers’ actions. The police, however, have only recorded statements of the wife and the Rangers’ personnel.
“After shooting the man from the picket at the Siddiq-e-Akbar Masjid, a few Rangers’ official turned their guns on use after which we stepped back,” said a man who lives in the Bab-e-Arif apartment where the incident took place. There are six closed circuit cameras installed near the crime scene, but the police have yet to comment on their findings from the footage. “I could be wrong, the other witnesses could be wrong but footage can’t lie,” said Zeeshan’s friend, Farhan.
Residents of the area accused the woman of conspiring with the Rangers, pointing to the security vans stationed outside her residence as evidence. The woman has been released from the hospital while the accused Rangers’ official has been arrested. SHO Chauhdry Afzal said that the police high-ups have been informed about the family’s demands and action would be taken according to the senior officials’ directives as well as the court’s as the family claimed to have filed a petition in the court.
