Quest for peace: Pakistan seeks full membership of SCO
SCO secretary general states to ensure peace and stability in region are main objectives of SCO.

Pakistan would like to become full member of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in its quest for peace, security, and progress within the region and within its own borders, Adviser to PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said during a meeting with the SCO Secretary General Dimitry Mezentsev at the foreign ministry. Aziz said that Pakistan, associated with the SCO as an observer since 2005, was presently confronting militancy and extremism and the member states of the SCO were also victim of this menace in varying degrees, a foreign ministry statement said. The SCO secretary general stated that strengthening mutual confidence and good neighbourly relations among the member countries and to make joint efforts to maintain and ensure peace and stability in the region are main objectives of the SCO, the statement said.
