
An alleged member of a banned outfit was arrested along with explosives from Karachi's district South while at least 12 more suspects were apprehended during targeted raids and operations on Friday.
An alleged member of the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Mohammad Moosa, was taken into custody from the Empress Market within the limits of the Preedy police station. His arrest was announced during a press conference by SP Mohammad Nadeem. Police officials also claimed to have found at least 10 kilogrammes of explosives from his possession.
The accused was also wanted by the Balochistan police for various acts of terrorism. At least eight suspects were apprehended during a targeted operation in Hussain De Silva Town in North Nazimabad. The entire area was cordoned off during the operation. The operation was launched by the Rangers. Weapons and drugs were recovered from the possession of the detainees.
The Ferozabad police claimed to have arrested two alleged criminals who were injured during an alleged encounter.
Police officials said that the encounter took place when the suspects, riding a motorcycle, were caught looting valuables from people on the street. The injured persons were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Separately, Rangers claim to have arrested two suspected criminals during a targeted raid in the Usmanabad area of Old City.
