Mistaken identity: Rangers official allegedly shoots civilian dead in Karachi

A man identified by the name of Zeeshanuddin was killed in Karachi on Thursday after a Sindh Rangers official allegedly shot him assuming he was a kidnapper, Express News reported.
The man was reportedly having a heated argument with his wife in the street which later turned physical. The security officer – thinking the man was trying to kidnap the woman – fired at him. The wife was also injured in the firing incident.
The incident took place near the Nagan Chowrangi area of the city.
The man was taken to a hospital for medical assistance but succumbed to his injuries.
DIG West Javed Odho said the matter will be investigated according to the law.
Zeeshanuddin's wife told Express News later on that her husband was physically abusing her on the street and when she cried for help, no one responded, and that is when the Rangers official fired at him.
Following the day’s events, the New Karachi police registered an FIR based on the complained filed by the victim's wife.
Police then proceeded to arrested Ranger Rahimullah for allegedly killing Zeeshan at Nagan Chowrangi.
