Key witness given a prepared draft
Key witness in Benazir murder probe claims that CPO Saud Aziz had given him an ‘already prepared statement’.
RAWALPINDI:
One of the key witnesses in the Benazir murder probe has claimed that the then city police officer (CPO) Saud Aziz had given him an ‘already prepared statement’ about the incident. The then assistant superintendent of police Civil Lines, Ashfaq Anwar made these claims before a court.
In a statement, Anwar said, “I was called by Aziz to see my statement with Mujahid Hussain, the then Deputy Superintendent of Police of Saddar, Rawalpindi. I however refused to agree to the statement and submitted that every officer has an assigned role.” He also mentioned that he was given the statement in a meeting called by the then CPO at the police headquarters on December 27, 2007.
