QUETTA:
Baloch insurgents freed six people, including four Levies personnel, a driver and a female polio worker on Wednesday morning.

The banned Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) had kidnapped these people from Awaran in an attack on the polio-drive convoy of Deputy Commissioner Rasheed Baloch on Monday.

According to Assistant Commissioner Awaran, armed men freed these people on Wednesday morning. “They are in good health and had not been tortured,” he said.

A group of armed men had opened fire on the convoy of deputy commissioner when it was returning from an anti-polio drive in a remote area of Awaran on Monday. There were four vehicles in the convoy and militants intercepted the fourth one and captured four Levies personnel, a female polio worker and the driver.

A tribal elder helped in the release of the kidnapped persons official sources said.

The kidnappers, however, did not return the official rifles they had snatched from the Levies.
