The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Tuesday announced starting two weekly flights to Mashhad, Iran, offering direct link with Pakistan every Tuesday and Saturday.
Iranian Consul General Asadi welcomed the commencement of PIA’s flight operation to Mashhad. He said that the development will strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran, adding that it will benefit the pilgrims travelling to Mashhad. PIA is also planning to start flights to Najaf, Iraq.

The first flight, PK 253, for the sector Lahore-Quetta-Mashhad took off from Allama Iqbal International Airport on Tuesday morning.
Federal Minister for Provincial Harmony Makhdoom Riaz Hussain and Iranian Consul General Lahore Mohammad Hossein Bani Asadi were present at the launching ceremony, a PIA statement said.
