Environmental concerns: WWF-Pakistan signs Green Office MoU with Philips
Lighting audits will be conducted at offices.
LAHORE:
WWF-Pakistan signed an MOU with Philips Electrical Industries of Pakistan on Monday under its Green Office Programme.
According to the MOU, lighting audits will be conducted at offices of the partner’s corporate clients, who are certified or will be certified as green offices.
Environmental Assessment and Green Office Initiative Coordinator Nazifa Butt said, “This is a very efficient initiative to reduce corporate entities’ carbon footprint and make them ecologically sustainable.”
She said Pakistan was facing a major energy crisis, so all major corporate entities in the country should use natural resources in a responsible way to minimise cost and maximise energy use efficiently.
Butt said that through a lighting audit, Philips could provide the best lighting solutions considering current lighting levels, wattage requirements and the replacement costs of new solutions. Return on investment would also be easily calculated on the basis of the lighting audit.
She said the WWF Green Office Network would also benefit from the audit and survey findings, as optimised lighting solutions would enhance energy saving in the corporate sector.
WWF-Pakistan initiated its Green Office Programme in 2009 to decrease the consumption of natural resources in offices and promote renewable energy resources. Since then, it has enrolled 18 companies, bringing 26 offices into its network.
