The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is organising a solidarity rally today (Sunday) to show their support for the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, announced the party's deputy convener, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
At a press conference held at Nine Zero on Saturday, the MQM leader said that the rally, which would be held at Shahrah-e-Quaideen at 3pm, would be a show of support for the Pakistan Army, Rangers, police and other law enforcement agencies who were fighting against militants.
"More than 40,000 of our people have lost their lives," said the MQM leader, as he appealed to other political parties to participate in the rally. "This is the time to unite and not differ over petty issues. This is a problem that is affecting us all. It is time we stepped outside to make a difference rather than stay indoors."
The decision to organise the rally was taken by the party's Rabita Committee in a joint meeting of representatives in Karachi and London on Friday evening.
The move for the solidarity rally comes just a few days after the MQM chief, Altaf Hussain, had lashed out at law enforcement agencies.

We want peace in Karachi, and that can come through people who have highest stakes in the city. Why i am not surprised to see only MQM coming forward.
Finally some sign of the public agitation against the menace of militancy...wonder where the supporters of PPP, PTI and PML are?
