KARACHI:
Police officials on Friday claimed to have recovered more explosives and bombs following a tip-off by detained members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Two suspected members of TTP’s Waliur Rehman group were arrested from Mauripur late Thursday evening in a joint raid conducted by the Crime Investigation Department and the District West police. Police officials also impounded a van carrying 120 kilogrammes of explosives.
During Friday’s raids police recovered 30 kilogrammes of explosives, along with two bombs fitted with around one-and-a-half kilogrammes of explosives.
“The explosives were recovered after receiving information from the arrested militants,” said Inspector Shafique Tanoli while talking to The Express Tribune.
“They (the arrested suspects) had planned to target many high-profile personalities in Karachi”, he said.
