A police sub-inspector was killed by a nominated accused in the jurisdiction of the Saddar Bairuni Police Station on Thursday.



Police said that Adiala police chowki in-charge Sub-Inspector Mahmood Gondal, who was investigating a property dispute between two parties, was returning to the police picket when he spotted a suspect at a property shop in Gulshan Abad.


According to the police, when the police official tried to arrest the suspect, identified as Sajid Mahmood, he opened fire on the police official and killed him on the spot before fleeing. The property owner was also wounded by gunfire, the police said. The suspect fled the scene.


The body of the police official was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.


According to the police, Gondal had presented the record for the property case to the area SP at the City Police Office before returning to the chowki.
