LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Thursday allowed the chief minister’s name to be deleted from a contempt of court petition against the construction of a parking plaza at Gulberg’s Doongi ground.

Representing the residents, Advocate Azhar Siddique said construction at the ground was in violation of an order passed by a full bench in 2011. He said the bench had ruled against the conversion of Doongi Ground into an IMAX Theatre.

He said the government had expedited construction. An additional advocate general said the government had restored the ground to its original position.

He said the CM had nothing to with the proceedings and requested his name be deleted from the respondents’ list. Justice Ayesha A Malik sought a report from the government by March 13.
