PESHAWAR:

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan issued a no objection certificate (NOC) to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Judicial Academy for awarding degrees. The academy also decided to establish the K-P Judicial Studies and Research Institute on campus.

Dr Adnan Khan, the academy’s director, said they were a recently established institution and it was an achievement to be recognised as a degree-awarding institute so quickly. He added the academy was the first of its kind in the subcontinent.

The academy plans to start running a postgraduate diploma, LLM, certificate courses and PhD programmes with the purpose of bringing reforms to the judicial system. Khan assured classes would start soon.

The director pointed out a team from the HEC, including its chairman Syed Imtiaz Gillani, visited the academy to check if it had the facilities to be able to award degrees. The NOC was issued after.
