KARACHI:

The Pakistan Railways police have devised a security plan which includes the patrolling of its tracks to evade terrorist attacks and tighten security of railway stations.

The plan comes in light of the bomb blast in Peshawar-bound Khushhal Khan Khattak Express near Thull town of Jacobabad on Sunday, in which six were killed and 35 were injured. Railway Police inspector general Syed Ibne Hussain announced at a press conference on Tuesday that law enforcers will check baggage and cargo before train departures at every railway station.

Each division has been provided 35 trailers which will have explosive detectors and bomb defusing equipment.

"We are increasing our security measures with the help of the provincial governments and local police to avoid any untoward incident," he said, adding that pedestrian teams of railway staffers will also patrol the railway tracks and that commandos have been deployed at the stations.
