Poet Anwar Masood enthralled the audience at the University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Tuesday with humorous and ironic couplets.

A sitting with poet Amjad Islam Amjad and Anwar Masood had been arranged by the UHS to pay tribute to their achievements.

A large number of students, faculty members, principals and deans of medical colleges attended the event at Shams Auditorium. Masood, a retired Persian teacher, also shared his views on various socio-political issues.

He recited his works in both Urdu and Punjabi, commenting on politics, medicine, marriage, and human relationships. The humorous poems Banain, and Nuskha captivated the audience. Fahim Baig, a university employee, said he had been eagerly waiting to hear Masood’s poetry in person. “At last, I’ve gotten a chance to hear the legendry poet,” he said. Amjad Islam Amjad also recited his poems Self-made Logon ka Almia, Zara si Baat and Mohabbat to the audience’s amusement. UHS Vice Chancellor Major General (r) Prof Muhammad Aslam said the event had provided a recreational activity for the students. He thanked the poets for accepting the university’s invitation. The vice chancellor of Government College University Lahore Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman attended the event as a special guest.
