KARACHI: Despite the ongoing targeted operation by law-enforcement agencies in Karachi, parts of Lyari remained tense as three more bodies of abducted persons were found on Monday.

Kalakot and Chakiwara areas of Lyari remained tense on Monday as routine and commercial activities were partially suspended due to a gun battle between Baba Ladla and Uzair Baloch groups. A woman and a man were wounded during armed clashes.

The members of these notorious groups have been involved in the kidnapping and killing of their rival group members. Police officials said that such incidents had escalated again following the killing of Kamran Baloch, the brother of slain Rehman Baloch aka Rehman Dakait. Kamran was killed on Sunday night. Since his killing, three bodies have been found in Lyari. Two bodies were found in Chakiwara while the third one was found in Kalakot. All three victims have yet to be identified. The bodies were moved to Edhi morgue for identification after medico-legal formalities at Civil Hospital, Karachi.

Separately, a man associated with the MWM was shot dead in Ancholi Society. The deceased was identified as Shahab Haider Naqvi, 35. Police officials said that deceased was sitting at his paan shop when at least two armed men shot him. He suffered multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. A spokesperson for the MWM condemned the incident and demanded the law enforcers arrest the culprits.
