Alleged extortionist: ATC remands suspect to police custody

According to prosecutor suspect was caught red-handed by the police when he had gone to collect the money.

KARACHI:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) awarded on Monday the physical custody remand of an alleged extortionist to the police for a week after he appeared before the court. The ATC-II remanded the suspect, Muslim Shah, for his alleged involvement in an extortion case. According to the prosecution, Shah was accused of demanding Rs800,000 as extortion money from the complainant of the case, Muhammad Mohsin. The prosecution added that the suspect was caught red-handed by the police when he had gone to collect the money on February 15. A case, No.47/14, under sections 385 and 386 of the Pakistan Penal Code, read with section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, was registered against Shah at the Jamshed Quarters police station.
