Transportation: ‘Railways can be profitable investment’

DPA chairman says millions of people are waiting for restoration of railways as it is affordable way of travelling.

LAHORE:
Pakistan Railways Daily Passengers Association proposed on Sunday that the government maintain a balance in investment in railways and road transport. The DPA chairman said on Sunday that the PR minister had said that former governments had been spending on roads at the expense of railways. He said railways could become profitable if the government invested in them. He said millions of people were waiting for restoration of railways as it was the most affordable way of travelling and thousands of people had become unemployed due to its decline. He requested Rafique to consider the possibility of extending train routes.
