Shah asked IG Shahid Nadeem Baloch on Sunday to conduct an enquiry into the matter, ordering him to submit a detailed report within three days.
The 35-year-old Khan, who was associated with unit-131 of the MQM and was an Orangi Town resident, went missing from the SITE Industrial Area. His family staged a protest outside the Karachi Press Club on February 13, demanding that he is rescued soon.
His body was found from the limits of Manghopir police station on Saturday- his hands tied and a blindfold around his eyes. Earlier, the MQM filed petitions in the Sindh High Court, alleging that law enforcement agencies have been killing its workers in an extrajudicial manner.
Party chief Altaf Hussain claimed on Saturday that the MQM had evidence that paramilitary soldiers had tortured MQM’s activists. “We will provide proof that Rangers have subjected MQM workers to third-degree torture,” the MQM chief said in an official statement.
However, this has been quickly refuted by the Rangers spokesperson. “We have not subjected anyone to any form of torture,” claimed a statement. “This is a campaign to malign our name as our only focus is to fight crime in the city.”
