In the line of duty: Wounded policeman succumbs to injuries

A previously injured police hawaldar, Tanveer, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Multan, Punjab on Saturday. Constable Naseer was killed and Tanveer was severely injured when militants opened fire at them in Parwa, DI Khan last Tuesday, a police official told The Express Tribune.
According to the official, the two policemen were on routine patrol on their motorcycle in Chamb, Parwa when unidentified militants opened fire at them and fled. As a result, Naseer was killed on the spot, while Tanveer was left gravely injured.
The police reached the scene soon after the incident and launched a search operation, however, no arrests were made, the official added. A case was registered against unidentified militants by Parwa police.
Tanveer was initially taken to District Headquarters Hospital, in critical condition, but was later shifted to a hospital in Multan.
