In the first incident, a Phookaliyaan Bajwat village resident was brutally tortured and his body was discovered in the Bella jungle near the Khandu Chak village by police officials.
“The body bore marks of severe torture. The man’s nose had been cut out and his eyes had been removed,” SP Sarwar said, adding that the police were working to identify the body and was searching for the unknown murderer. “The victim’s body has been sent to the Sialkot DHQ morgue for an autopsy and after the results we will be able to pursue the case,” Sarwar said.
Meanwhile, in another incident, an unknown armed man gunned down a local landlord Khalid Qureshi in his sleep. Quershi was asleep at his Dera in the Baryar village in the Daska tehsil on Sunday night. Police officials said that the accused stormed into the dera and opened fire killing Quershi on the spot.
“Neighbours of the victim said that he had many enemies and that he had recently been threatened over a land dispute,” police officials said. The accused fled the scene after firing shots into the air. Police officials are investigating both murders.
Locals have protested both murders and have demanded that the police speed up their investigation.
