Pakistan reclaims record for largest human flag
29,040 students come together to reclaim the record Pakistan had first broken in 2012.
LAHORE:
Pakistan on Saturday for a second time set a record of forming the largest human flag with 29,040 students at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore, Express News reported.
Pakistan had first set the record in October 2012 when 24,200 people came together to break the record held by Hong Kong.
Saturday’s record was recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records.
Last year, Bangladesh broke Pakistan’s record after over 27,000 people came together to form the Bangladeshi flag.
The record attempts are part of the Punjab Youth Festival.
Punjab Sports Board Director General Usman Anwar said, “Volunteers have been assigned duties for the world record events.”
Minister for Education and Sports Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said on Friday that they aimed to break a number of records.
“The youth will try to set as many as 100 world records,” he said.
The minister said 150,000 people would also attempt the record for the national anthem on February 19.
