Lyari operation 2012: Suspect sent to police custody for killing policeman

ATC-III remanded Mohammad Ramzan to police custody till February 16.

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) remanded on Thursday a suspect to police custody in a case pertaining to the murder of a police official during the Lyari operation in April 2012.


The ATC-III remanded Mohammad Ramzan to police custody till February 16. The police arrested Ramzan on Wednesday.

According to the police, the suspect was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of a head constable, Fayyaz Ahmed, on April 29, 2012.

A case, No.67/12, under sections 302, 324, 353, 186, 427, 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code read with section ¾ of the Explosive Act and section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, was registered against the members of the banned Peoples Amn Committee at Kalakot police station.

The police have submitted charge-sheets for the absconding suspects, Uzair Jan Baloch, Zafar Baloch, Umer Katchi, Zubair Baloch, Taj Mohammad aka Taju, Zahid Ladla, Wasiullah Lakho and others, under section 512 (record of evidence in absence of accused) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
