ISLAMABAD: Building Energy Code, launched by the Pakistan Energy Council, will help reduce electric load and save power for the national grid. While talking to media after the launch of the “Building Energy Code of Pakistan” on Wednesday, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid said the code will play a significant role in alleviating the energy crisis prevailing in the country. In view of persistent energy shortfall, it has become imperative to design better systems that minimise energy consumption and improve efficiency, he said, adding that the Pakistan Building Code will ensure energy efficiency benchmarks for buildings. The federal minister said that every effort has been made to ensure that these provisions do not unnecessarily increase costs, or restrict the use of new materials and technology.
