A two-member committee, comprising the newly appointed Sindh Advocate General Fatah Malik and the prosecutor general Sher Muhammad Shaikh, has been formed by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah to pursue the speedy disposal of the cases challaned during the targeted operation.
The meeting held at the CM House on Wednesday reviewed the performance of law enforcement agencies, especially with reference to the on-going targeted operation against terrorists, kidnappers, extortionists and other criminals.
Presiding over the meeting, the CM said, "Some elements are creating controversies. The federal and provincial government will continue the targeted operation till the elimination of the last criminal from Karachi. Both the governments are determined to take this operation to its final conclusion rather than surrendering under any pressure."
Expressing his apprehension, once again, over the hindrances in the targeted operation due to illegal SIMs, he said, "Despite our repeated request, some cellular companies are not cooperating. Despite this, the database of 40,000 SIMs has been examined only to investigate the attack on Chaudhry Aslam."
He appreciated the determination shown by the police and LEAs for fighting against terrorists by putting their lives at risk. He urged that close coordination be developed between the departments of investigation and prosecution.
Speaking on the shortage of resources in the police department, he said that the Sindh government was investing huge amount to strengthen the police by equipping it with latest weapons, APCs and bulletproof vehicles, helmets and vests. "We have passed the law to purchase latest weapons and other necessary equipment. Please start your homework so that we can get the weapons as soon as possible," he said while directing the officials.
Claiming that the crime rate has gone down, he said that the achievements and performance of the law enforcers would be shared in the Sindh Assembly soon.
