Resisting prostitution: LHC takes notice of acid attack
Amer Sidhu resident says her husband, sister-in-law and mother-in-law had been pressing her to agree to prostitution.

The Lahore High Court Complaint Cell on Tuesday took notice of an incident involving a man who threw acid at his wife allegedly for not agreeing to sex work. The cell directed the district and sessions judge to submit a report on steps taken by police and his comments within a week. An Amer Sidhu resident has said that her husband, sister-in-law and mother-in-law had been pressing her to agree to prostitution. She said after she resisted, she was abducted and her husband and accomplices threw acid at her. She said that a few days later, they broke into her house and beat her. She said they also took her jewellery, cash and other valuables from her house. The woman said she had approached police with a complaint against Kashif, Ijaz, Qaiser, Judge Shah, Misbah, Farkhanda, Azra and Zahida but the police had not acted against them. Instead, they had been threatening her.
