Arrest warrants issued for witnesses
The judge directed the Shahdara station house officer to produce them in court to record their statements on March 1.
LAHORE:
An additional district and sessions judge issued non-bailable arrest warrants on Tuesday for two prosecution witnesses, Inspector Raees Ahmed and Sub Inspector Arshad Ahmed, for not appearing in a case against a member of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan who had allegedly been arrested with 4kg hashish.
The judge directed the Shahdara station house officer to produce them in court to record their statements on March 1. There has been no development in the trial for more than two years because the case file has been transferred to several judges who overlooked the previous court orders.
The drug trial of Sakhi Shah started on April 22, 2010.
According to the FIR, Shahdara police had received information on February 8, 2010, that some terrorists, including TTP member Qari Abdul Baseer, planned to attack some Americans at a hotel.
They were travelling to Lahore via Saggian Bridge when the police intercepted their vehicles and arrested Abdul Baseer, Tehsil Khan, Abdur Rehman, Mahayudin, Sakhi Shah and Dilawar Saeed and confiscated explosive jackets, hand grenades. Police said they also seized 4kg hashish from Sakhi Shah.
