LAHORE:
A man was apprehended by the Jamia Manzoor al Islamia administration on Tuesday for apparently carrying out reconnaissance of the madrassah for a suicide bomb attack. Police said the madrassah officials caught the man when he tried to enter the seminary. Police said the man first told the maddrasah officials that he was from an intelligence agency but later said he was a terrorist and was conducting reconnaissance for an attack he planned to carry out in a week. Police said they took the man, Syed Salman, a resident of Swabi, into custody. Police said Salman later told them that he was an American spy. Cantt SP Sarfraz Virk said Salman’s family had been contacted. He said Salman appeared to be neurotic and was clearly lying. He said the NIC Salman was carrying was his own and no weapons were found on him. He said the South Cantt police were interrogating him. A decision regarding possible legal action against Salman would be taken after the interrogation.
