Faysal Bank T20 Cup: Teams battle it out in unfriendly conditions
Stallions, Bulls, Wolves and Leopards make it to last eight.
KARACHI:
The Karachi Dolphins had to fight hard to register a six-wicket win against the Sialkot Stallions in their Group-A low-scoring match. However they still lost the race to the quarter-finals due to their inferior head-to-head record with Larkana Bulls.
The Stallions topped the group with six points, while the Dolphins and Bulls were credited with five points each. Even though the Dolphins had a better run-rate, they were still piped by the Bulls, who had earlier triumphed in the group match between the two.
Batting first at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the Stallions failed with their pace during the power-play and as a result were all out for 91 in 19.4 overs. Shoaib Malik made 21 off 31 balls, while Abdul Ameer and Fawad Alam picked up four and three wickets, respectively.
In reply, the Dolphins were in disarray at one position after being reduced to 30 for four in seven overs. But Sheharyar Ghani and Fawad Alam took them home with a 62-run stand as the Dolphins made 92 for four with 17 balls to spare. Ghani starred with a 32-run quick knock, while Alam scored a 37-ball 27.
In other fixture of the day, Saeed Ajmal claimed three wickets to help Faisalabad Wolves beat Lahore Eagles by eight wickets at the same venue in another low-scoring game. They have now qualified for the last eight along with Islamabad Leopards from Group C.
