KARACHI:
Sindh High Court Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar ordered that the First Information Report (FIR) and medical report of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker Fahad Aziz be presented to the court within 15 days, Express News reported on Tuesday.

The decision was made today during the hearing of the Fahad Aziz torture case. The MQM had gone to court on February 11 against, what it calls, extrajudicial killings of its workers after Aziz was allegedly picked up by the law enforcers and subjected to torture on February 8.

The high court had issued notices to the federal and provincial interior secretaries, provincial chiefs of the police and Rangers and their subordinates on this plea.

The petition was jointly filed by Aziz, his relative Abdul Aziz and MQM deputy convener Dr Farooq Sattar. They had cited SSP East Pir Muhammad Shah and Shah Faisal police SHO Fahim Farooqui as respondents, apart from others.

The judges were informed that around eight party workers have been killed while over 45 have gone missing. The petitioners had also asked that police authorities compensate Aziz for torturing him in custody.

The MQM worker was arrested by police on February 8 and was released on bail the next day. Aziz had claimed that he was tortured during police interrogation. He was taken to Darul Sehat Hospital after having been detained by the police for about 10 hours.
