KARACHI: Seasoned players Younus Khan and Yasir Hameed were part of a 169-run stand to help Abbottabad Falcons beat Bahawalpur Stags by 77 runs in their Faysal Bank T20 Cup match at the National Ground in Islamabad.

Batting first, the Falcons amassed 200 for one in their allotted 20 overs. Unfortunately, Hameed missed out on a deserving century; he remained unbeaten on 97 off 68, while Younus supported him with a well made 71 off 47.

In reply, the Stags managed only a meagre 123 for eight in their quota as Khalid Usman claimed three wickets while Junaid Khan chipped in with two scalps.

For the Stags, Ansar Javed (32), Faisal Mubashir (29) and Imranullah Aslam (23) were the noteworthy contributors.

Stallions gallop to important win

In Group A, left-arm spinner Raza Hasan and Hasan Ali claimed three wickets apiece as the Sialkot Stallions thrashed Quetta Bears by 72 runs at the Diamond Ground in Islamabad.

Set a target of 155, the Bears could only muster 82 for nine in their 20 overs, with tail ender Nazar Hussain top-scoring with 26 to give some respectability to his team’s total. Abdur Rehman bagged two wickets while Shoaib Malik claimed a solitary scalp.

Earlier, banking on Haris Sohail’s maverick 66-run knock laced with five sixes and three boundaries, the Stallions managed to post 154 for eight. Fareeduddin claimed four wickets while Ghulam Mohammad dismissed two batsmen.

Meanwhile, the Peshawar Panthers registered an easy seven-wicket victory against the Lahore Eagles courtesy an imposing bowling attack at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Asked to bat first, the Eagles had to go through a dodgy flight and made only 104 for nine. Abid Ali was the top-scorer as he struck 24 off 30, while fast-bowler Imran Khan starred with the ball with three scalps to his credit.

The Panthers eased to 107 for three in just 15.3 overs after a quick fire knock of 40 from Adil Amin.

In another fixture, Rawalpindi Rams failed to chase a 184-run total posted by the Multan Tigers as they ended with 181 for eight in a closely fought match.

Poor reporting, discounts Multan's success by reporting Rawalpindi's Failure. Unnecessary economy of words only shows that Multan’s victory didn’t go well with the reporter. May be because Multan and rest of the south is not the main land Pakistan.
