
The experienced golfer from Islamabad, who started the professional event with a disappointing opening round of 74, fired four-under 68 on the final day to surpass his opponents with an aggregate of five-under 211.
Mohammad Munir, who started the final day as the leader with 139, slipped to second position after ending with one-over 73, falling one-stroke short to Shabbir.
Local golfer Imran Ali Khan, who stole limelight on the opening day at the Defence Authority Country and Golf Club with five-under 67, finished in third position after aggregating a card of three-under 213.
Ashir Masih and Latif Rafiq finished joint fourth with identical cards of 215 followed by Mohammad Tahir and Afsar Ali who marked a score of 216 each. Seasoned Matloob Ahmed failed to impress throughout the event, ending the competition with a disappointing score of 217.
As a reward, Shabbir received the winner’s prize money of Rs218,000.
Inayat claims senior pros title
Saleem Inayat won the senior professionals competition with one-under 73. Mahmood Kiyani finished second, losing by two strokes, while Hassan Akbar claimed third position with a score of 76.
The amateurs’ title went to Zohaib Asif, who collected a gross card of 224 from three rounds. Col Ansar Iqbal won the event of invites followed by Nadeem Arif and Brigadier Mazhar.
