Illegal detention: FIA chief’s comments sought
Comments sought on petition seeking to register case against man allegedly involved in taking four men hostage.
LAHORE:
An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday sought the FIA director general’s comments by February 12 on a petition seeking to register a case against a man allegedly involved in taking four men hostage. Petitioner Muhammad Arshad said Jameel, a close relative, had said he would send him abroad for Rs1 million. He said he, Liaquat, Asif and Salamat, paid him Rs 200,000 to be sent toItaly. It was decided that the remaining amount would be paid after they had arrived in Italy safely. He said that they were taken to Turkey via Iran and then held hostage in Greece, where Jameel demanded the remaining money. They paid the amount but were still not allowed to leave. Arshad said he later managed to escape and return to Pakistan but the other men were still being held. He asked the court to direct the concerned officials to register a case against Jameel.
